War Thunder

War Thunder Ground and Air Mode Basics

War Thunder mixes vehicle knowledge with map sense. Players who only unlock the next tank without learning hull-down spots keep donating spawn points to the other team.

Ground: angles before upgrades

Learn one hull-down and one flanking path on each frequent map. A stock tank with good angles outplays a spaded tank parked in the open.

Check the minimap when you hear aircraft. Ignoring air while peeking a ridge is a common Ground RB ending.

Air: energy and objectives

In mixed battles, decide whether you are hunting attackers or holding altitude for team cover. Diving for one easy fighter kill can leave bombers free.

Ammo discipline matters. Spray at impossible ranges announces you and empties belts before the real merge.

Crew and lineup notes

Invest crew skills that keep you in the fight — vitality and reload where it counts — before cosmetic unlocks. Lineups should cover your BR without huge gaps.

After a losing streak, drop BR for a session. Confidence returns faster when spawns feel fair again.
